Created by OCLC for libraries with WorldShare Management Services, the Digby app is designed for use by a range of staff members including student workers and volunteers. It offers streamlined workflows and an intuitive interface to efficiently and accurately handle everyday library tasks.
Digby supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, and Spanish, and provides the following key features:
- CHANGE ITEM LOCATION: Utilize the "Change Item Location" function to update the permanent or temporary location of monographs within your library. Access to this feature requires the appropriate staff role assigned to your Digby user account (visit here for more information).
- CHECK IN: Scan item barcodes to check in items, clear Missing and Lost statuses, and route items to the circulation desk for processing. Easily view and sort a list of checked-in items by call number or check-in order.
- CHECK OUT: Facilitate item loans to patrons using a mobile device by scanning both the patron and item barcodes. Share due date receipts with patrons via email or hard copy.
- INVENTORY: Scan item barcodes to identify held or exceptional items, trigger relevant notifications, and streamline additional processing tasks. Generate detailed reports summarizing inventoried items at the end of a session.
- PULL LISTS: Access and manage circulation pull lists directly from the app, with dynamic updates available for efficient task management. Filter lists by hold type and utilize indicators for external system requests.
- RESHELVING: Simplify resource tracking by rescanning items left on tables or carts by patrons and reshelve them correctly without returning them to the circulation desk.
- SEARCH WORLDCAT DISCOVERY: Conduct quick searches on WorldCat Discovery from within Digby to access the library catalog remotely.
- SHELF READING: Easily manage shelf reading tasks by scanning items and obtaining comprehensive lists based on call numbers. Mark item status, generate reports, and address out-of-order items effectively.
To start using Digby, please complete the online form at oc.lc/digbyform. Once your library receives activation notification from OCLC, log in to Digby by selecting your institution and entering your WorldShare Management Services credentials.
